Did you know that one in five students at Marist transferred here from another institution? Our transfer students quickly adapt to the Marist culture, thrive in their studies, and easily form connections that last throughout their lifetime. 不要相信我们? Take it from transfer student, 杰西卡, a Senior from the Hudson Valley who is majoring in Social Work.

Q: What made you decide to transfer to Marist?
A: After touring Marist, I instantaneously knew it was the school for me. I chose to transfer here after getting to meet several Marist students and really getting to experience that Marist community. Marist is such an involved campus and there is always something going, which was the big factor I had been missing from my previous school.

Q: What kind of support services did Marist offer to ease the transition while transferring?
A: Marist had a whole club of students and a team of admissions counselors ready to answer any and all questions I may have about my program, clubs and activities, 作为一个整体的圣母, the transfer process, 等., or even just to talk to get a feel of the campus. Everyone was ready with open arms, really making a new student feel welcomed.

Q: What is one thing you wish you knew before transferring?
A: I wish I knew that I was not the only one who was going through the transfer process that had had a previously bad experience at a different college. We were all in the same boat and transferring is a normal thing to do, you are not the awkward one out like you think.

Q: What was the transferring process like?
A: Marist was the only school to celebrate that I was a transfer student and not treat me like an alien. They also did not treat me like I had never been to college, like an incoming freshman. They realized that I was older and knew basic information about college life.

Q: What general advice would you give to a student considering transferring?
A: Be open when it comes to all things transferring. Be open to the school you pick, the new people you are meeting, the clubs you could join, 新环境, 一切. I never thought I would be going to a college 15 minutes down the road from where I grew up, but cannot picture myself anywhere else now.

Q: What is your favorite thing about Marist?
A: My absolute favorite thing about Marist is the vibrant and lively community we have here. It is the kind of campus where someone holds the door open for you when you're 10 feet back. Every student is involved in 2, 3, 4, 5个不同的俱乐部, so you are constantly meeting new people who are super friendly and welcoming. Everyone has their place here.

Q: What helped you the most during the transfer process?
A: Knowing that the Marist community not only wanted me to come but also was excited to hear my story and who I was. Everyone was there for me and genuinely wanted me to find the right college for me whether that was Marist or another institution.
